About me!
Willow is a Spokane-based artist who creates functional pieces of pottery and textiles. The inspiration for her work is to bring people together and to create or tell stories. She is currently in her final year at Eastern Washington University, and is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts in Studio Art. Willow has a strong sense of curiosity for ceramics and textiles, and it is what inspires her work.
My Artist Statement!
I love to play with dirt! One of my major art forms is working with clay, and I enjoy using the pottery wheel to make every day and functional pieces. Always creating. I’ve learned how to hone my skills to make significant pieces and express myself and my values. I also enjoy working with textiles, and I especially enjoy assembling costumes and clothes. Each piece, whether ceramic or textile, is delicately put together and is made with the intention of telling a story. So, whether at a dinner table with family you know, at a show of strangers you’ve just met, or worn outside for others to see; my pieces are made with the intention to connect people and form a community.

Stories are the most important part of my work, whether through the process I have while throwing, or the ones other people make up in relation to my work. The stories that are shared around meals are the stories that represent this piece. Every time my dinnerware gets used, there is a new meaning to it and that story is constantly changing. I created this piece to represent something specific happening to me, but when I share this work, it is now up to you to decide what their new stories are.
